My Review and Thoughts:
As in the words of my brother: "Quentin is the true
pimp of Cinema."
This is one of Quentin's best movies. I feel this is a true
modern-day classic. I'm not a Jamie Foxx fan but that changed with this part.
Boy he was brilliant in the lead role. This is a violent masterpiece. A
shocking twist. However Quentin got away with what he did I will never know for
this is one bloody, gory, disturbing and shocking none P.C. movie and that's
why I love it.
Brilliant, brilliant, I cannot say that enough. This is a
true classic that I find is worthy to go in any top movie list. The acting, the
direction, the story is just a whole brilliant complete flawless film of eye
candy.
Leonardo DiCaprio was one mean son of a bitch. The white
people in this movie are horrid and the visual depictions of suffering and
slavery was done in a harsh graphic way that made it so real. I highly
recommend this movie. This is a top notch one-of-a-kind film that I feel goes
up there with a great deal of masterpieces of today and of the past.
This film will be looked at in the future as being something
to speak about, teach and showcase great film making. I loved this movie,
highly recommend it, own it, rent it, and watch it. Loved all the stars and
cameos. The one and only original Django himself Franco Nero showed up in a
priceless moment. From Samuel L. Jackson to just small cameo parts that you
would not expect actors to do, priceless in all their glory as cowboys,
rednecks, slaves or just people in quick shots of film making.
The story is Django is a slave. He is hunted done by a white
German bounty hunter to help identify three brothers he is seeking out for a
bounty reward. Both team together as partners in bounty hunting with the
promise given to Django that they will seek out and find his wife who is a
slave that was bought and sold to one of the biggest slave plantations in the
south Candyland of Mississippi.
I have to say I have not been this entertained in a film in
a long time and I mean that. I watch tons of movies, review tons of movies and
each day I am entertained by tons of movies. Most films come and go but I will
stick with this one and remember it as being a true winner.
There are many moments in this film that stand out as great
filmed and written moments. There is one shot, the dinner scene, when Leonardo
DiCaprio pulls out a skull and just begins a tyrant raid of a story. His
performance in this moment is stunning and shocking and just brilliant. I loved
the way his character was created and acted out.
Possibly one of the funniest moments I have ever seen was
the posse of redneck cowboys ran by Don Johnson's character Big Daddy. This is
such a funny moment that I swear I thought I was going to have an aneurysm in
my head I laughed so hard. This moment you have to see. I cracked up with these
rednecks in white sheet pillow cases not being able to see, just a truly
priceless moment to remember as being one of the funniest moments in film
history.
A true film playing homage to the classic spaghetti westerns
of the past. Those wonderful senseless gun fight violent films that are a part
of every true film lover’s memory.
With all the films Quentin has done I feel this one has
taken my number two spot in his career of honors. One will always be Reservoir
Dogs with me and now this will take the number two spot. I loved this movie and
felt it has added so much to the cinema world.
Quentin has away with telling stories and capturing them
like no other director does. Quentin has a talent and vision of the past cinema
world. He understands the classic approach of grindhouse and martial arts and
western and horror worlds of cinema.
He understands the fan boy of cinema. He understands what it
was like growing up laying in front of an old wooden box television on Saturday
afternoons or midnight film marathons. He knows the true film lover. He honors
and gives the film lover apart of their childhood and of their unique twisted
realms of imagination.
Django is a spiral of flawless acting, direction and story.
Christoph Waltz who plays the bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz is a shining
beckon of brilliance in this film. A master talent. He shines in what I
consider the main star of the film but was classified as supporting actor. He
is a golden ticket of perfection.
As you can tell I love this movie and it should be seen and
owned, it's a perfect piece of cinema history done in away only Quentin could
have done.
