My Review and Thoughts:

Yep this is one of the greatest over looked and talked about films of 2013. A shocking and twisted tale of secrets, lies and most of all mystery. The acting dynamic. All the players are something stunning and very dark, deep, sexual and deprived of any innocence. This is a dark fairy tale of a hidden family and all its lies. I find this film to be something viewed over and over again to really grasp the subject and all its hidden moments.

I find the story a deeper darker reality that stains the idea of family and the very nature of a loving family. What is a loving family? This is directed by one of the greatest directors of all time. A director often overlooked and side tracked. He created one of the most memorable and shocking film experiences of my life with his ultra-classic film perfection of Oldboy (2003). I will always remember his dark style and his unrelenting desire to destroy the viewer when the truth finally comes outs. I feel he has taken that same darkness or deep subject of hidden secrets and lies and weaved them into the plot of Stoker.

Chan-wool Park is a cinema master. His talent bleeds the very recesses of film cinema. He is a writer and a director that knows what he wants and how to use it. He creates Stoker in a wonderful concept of a drama yet mixed as a dark thriller.

Now the script was crafted by an equally awesome actor and visionary the very wonderful and sexy Wentworth Miller. I will always remember him from the awesome TV show Prison Break. This is his first written script and he did a wonderful deep, dark, mysterious persona in his tale of a family. Not only is he talented in acting, he is equally awesome and brilliant at writing. I hope he keeps up the skill of writing, for he gave a darker toned story that lingers on your mind.

In the last few years I have become a huge fan of Nicole Kidman. She has acted her butt off in many films that stand out and showcase her brilliance at the craft. The past ten years she has had some misses and some great wins such as The Others (2001), Moulin Rouge (2001), Dogville (2003), Cold Mountain (2003), Birth (2004) and this one Stoker. She plays a perfect emotional character that is believable and filled with a story that lingers on the screen. She plays the part of Evelyn Stoker in a trance like state of emotions and attitude. I think she shinned in the part.

Next on the plate would have to be the acting talent of Matthew Goode as Charles Stoker. Wow what a deep, dark and twisted little game of perfection in his role. He created a persona that lasts with you. You can't help but watch and wonder what’s going to happen next. Very sexual, very sensual and vivid. An extraordinary part and a memorable character in the cinema world. His part is one to remember. He gives a ripple of emotions and a look and stare that builds his character.

The main star is the beautiful, stunning, sexual and graceful Mia Wasikowska as India Stoker. I need not describe how she creates a perfect role. She is the confused, the seeker, the darker thought, the wanted, and the mold to hold together the movie as a complete piece of storytelling. I absolutely believe her part. I felt her part. I felt her persona on screen. She brought to life India. She has such a beautiful talent of acting. I became an instant fan of this movie and her talent of acting. I praise her in this role. She also gave an award worthy performance in the underrated 2011's Jane Eyre. She has away with her characters that shine on screen.

To best describe this movie, it's like Alice in Wonderland meets the mind of V.C. Andrews with a massive splash of methamphetamine, all the while smoked with a pipe made out of the uniqueness and originality of a twisted and brilliant imagination.

Deeply sensual and mysteriously erotic. A tempted darkness mixed with the idea of hidden innocence yet stained with the very brink of disturbing. A flawless example of a brilliant film. Stunning, one-of-a-kind. A dark twisted tour-de-force of original brilliance. A perfect music soundtrack. The music score is a flawless example in itself. Had no idea where this was going and that's the perfection of it all.

A modern day film noir on the tail end of a Hitchcockian reality. A true, odd, Gothic, dark twisted tale, beautifully woven around images, noise, and the idea and mystery of just what is happening. A modern day masterpiece.
