My Review and Thoughts:

Film (5/5)

Here we step into a golden film of yesteryear. A beautiful stunning emotional heart wrenching brilliant masterpiece of the golden era. A piece of cinema that tells an extraordinary story of life, of a one-of-a-kind pianist. A musician that graced history and became apart of historical music history.

Twilight Time brought out this wonderful masterpiece of a film in an extraordinary new Blu-ray limited to 3000 units. They grace Cinema and bring a historical value of what films are. They are able to capture and bring the beauty of what these movies tended to be. They give us the reality of what movies are, which they are the very imaginative beauty of life on screen.

This is mixed beautiful cinematography, music, and a tearjerking personal and emotional story of one man's journey. Truly a sentimental and beautiful biography film that tells the story, that grabs the viewer, that builds the characters.

The music is performed flawlessly. The acting is extraordinarily memorable and leaves the viewer with many mixed emotions. It comes together into a complete personal feel that the film is real. It makes you watching become a part of this Golden age biography piece of cinema.

Starring the amazing beautiful stunning goddess of cinema the one and only Kim Novak. I grew up watching her in all the wonderful old cinema favorites from 1965's Bell Book and Candle. The amazing 1955's Picnic. The one that I will always remember her from the tour-de-force masterpiece Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo. She acted in many other wonderful pieces of cinema and including this masterpiece I am reviewing.

In this she stars as Marjorie Oelrichs. She graces the screen as she always has with stunning amazing beauty and wonderful top-notch acting that sticks out and grabs the viewer in her wonderful characterization and her persona. She mixes emotions in with her acting. She makes you believe in her part in this film. She makes you the viewer feel like you were there with her in the part she's acting in.

The main actor in this who stars as Eddy is none other than the masterpiece film actor himself Tyrone Power. A true powerful acting performer in just about anything he has ever done. He graced Cinema and owned the screen as he acted. In this movie he captures the part. He makes you believe the part. He makes you feel the part. He gives you all the emotions that a biography life story should have. He becomes the character and owns the character. I could see no other person in this part, for what he did was create an award worthy piece of cinema. He acted as if reality was taking place on screen.

Through out his acting career he was a true action-packed swashbuckling performer on screen. He captured every role, every action-packed scenario that he ever starred in. From being a pirate, to being a hopeless romantic he gave it his all. Sadly we lost him at a very young age of only 44 years old. The years that he acted he gave us very memorable pieces of cinema and this is one of them.

This also stars none other than one of the greatest queens of cinema Gloria Holden. I will always remember her in her starring role in 1936's Dracula's Daughter.

This also stars acting veteran James Whitmore. Staring in over 150 performances in his long lasting career. He graced such classics like 54's Them! to 68's Madigan and modern landmarks like the amazing character in the priceless The Shawshank Redemption (1994). He was a golden award worthy actor that knew how to own a part that he was acting out.

This movie was awarded many nominations and also won the award for best cinematography at the Oscars. It's truly a beautiful film, a tearjerking film, a film that basically is a landmark of cinema. It captures the reality of life and the ultimate character study of this musician.

Eddy was an amazing musician and bandleader in the 1930s and 1940s. He stood out amongst many of that day because of his wonderful amazing personality and his beautiful music. He was able to capture the audience in his piano play, in his personality and his band leader reality. This movie is ultimately a fictionalized version of his life. There are many instances in this movie that has been altered from reality but the movie itself is a brilliant tale of a man and his music and his ultimate struggle in life. Eddy fought a battle of leukemia, which ultimately cost him his life and the public will always, of that time, and of music history will know what his persona and love for music is all about.

What's amazing about Eddy is he had no music training. He taught himself, learned it himself and had a classic style that radiated throughout his talent.

Now something funny and entertaining to note is the movie became so popular during it's day that Columbia Pictures The Three Stooges during the funny interesting moment in 1957's Outer Space Jitters short, Joe Besser who took over after the death of Shemp Howard screamed when their spaceship is about to crash. "I don't want to die! I can't die! I haven't seen The Eddy Duchin Story yet!"

This is a must watch, must see film and Twilight Time Blu-ray did a stunning job in capturing this beautiful, emotional biopic of fictionalized wonder, tearjerking reality and a beautiful music score.

A wonderful experience of viewing this classic film of yesteryear. Captured beautifully on Twilight Time Blu-ray for a whole new generation.
