Closer to God (2015)

Closer to God (2015)

Starring: Jeremy Childs, Shelean Newman, Shannon Hoppe, David Alford, Isaac Disney

Plot: Dr. Victor Reed is a brilliant geneticist who has just achieved a huge scientific breakthrough by successfully cloning the first human being, an adorable baby girl named Elizabeth. This immediately becomes a media spectacle and ignites a firestorm of debate concerning the moral and religious implications of such a discovery.

My Review and Thoughts:

Very dark, stylistically nightmarish. A very well put together film. Flawless acting. An impressive dark toned film that melds science with a mix of horror.

Really loved the style it's filmed in. The darkened lighting. The shadows and lack of light gives its foreboding atmosphere. Gloomy, depressing. A scientist doctor and his corporation has cloned the first baby. The mysterious reality of the subject and also the moral ramifications play out.

The creator, Dr. Victor goes about with his experiment. Soon the story turns into a more mysterious reality as you move forward into the subject. Another child named Ethan, held captive, locked away, strange and spooky. A mysterious man showing up in the hospital. All these realities come into play, and give a tight, and unexpected film of pure story and entertainment.

This is a very haunting film. Really plays with nerves. Very intense at times as you never know where it's going. A true sci-fi horror that is very memorable. Written and directed by Billy Senese. Senese has created a modern day Frankenstein that is both, deep, dark and terrifying. Very dramatic and filled with all the creepy moments that touches the nerves of the viewer.

Jeremy Childs is absolutely brilliant as Dr. Victor. He is a fantastic actor and created a very memorable character. He owned the part and made you believe. All the performers aced there characters. Shelean Newman was amazing as the character Mary. This being her first role I thought was stunning. Shannon Hoppe also her first feature film, unbelievable. She to, is amazing. Isaac Disney does an utterly twisted and creepy goosebumps causing reality.

Love the scenario of the overactive crazy religious people screaming, representing the pitchfork and torch carrying mob, hunting down Dr. Frankenstein. The movie has all the trademarks and reality of the classic monster films, yet mixes all the brilliance of a modern-day scientific sci-fi horror.

If the Brood (1979), It's Alive (1974) and Frankenstein had a three way, and birthed a love child, it would be, Closer to God.

I was thoroughly entertained. I have always been a sucker for these type of movies. Cloned children. Life being created. The mysterious ordeal that takes place after the child is born. I love the concept of the idea of God and creating a living being. That living being turning out to be totally different than anything imagined or expected.

I thought this was a great watch.
