My Review and Thoughts:
My Rating: 4 out of 5
Super excited about this Special Edition Twilight Time
Blu-ray release. I am a huge Charles Dickens fan. I have read his whole library
and own all his books. I am currently in the process of buying all his film
adaptions. I feel NICHOLAS NICKLEBY is one of the finest adaptions to any
Dickens story. Starring a wonderful, top notch brilliant cast of actors and
actresses. Starring the very talented Charlie Hunnam. I first fell in love with
his talent in the TV drama Queer as Folk playing the part of Nathan Maloney.
Many will know him from the TV Modern Cult Classic Sons of Anarchy playing the part
of Jackson from 2008 to 2014. Whatever character he is playing he gives a total
perfection that leaves you the viewer in total satisfaction. He can bring to
life his characters. Playing Nicolas Nickleby is a shining role, that is perfection on film.
Also, starring one of my personal favorites Jamie Bell. I
also fell in love with him in his first film, Billy Elliot. I knew then that
this young man had a huge future in cinema, both great and small. I personally think that his ultimate defining role's are: Deathwatch (2002), his masterpiece
worthy performance in Undertow (2004), which is one of the most underrated films out
there. He was brilliant in The Chumscrubber (2005). He played the character of
K in 2013’s Nymphomaniac to an award worthy reality. No matter the part, Bell
is a golden ticket of perfection in performance. He is currently playing the part
of Abraham Woodhull on the awesome TV series TURN: Washington’s Spies. I love
the amazing cast in NICHOLAS NICKLEBY.
Also, starring Tom Courtenay who has always been one of my
favorite actors. Courtenay's defining achievement was in the 1963's Billy Liar.
He also starred in another wonderful Blu-ray release by Twilight Time, The
Night of the Generals which he weaved a performance with total acting excellence
that stands out above and beyond so many other films. He is a part of a
cinematic collection of classic performers that stand out.
Also, starring a wonderful female actress, the multi-talented,
award worthy, actress Anne Hathaway. Her part of Rachel in 2008’s Rachel
Getting Married is extraordinary. I feel her shinning role is Fantine in the
mastery musical film 2012’s Les Miserables. Nickleby also, stars a vast array of
actors, the one and only Alan Cumming, Nathan Lane, Jim Broadbent, Christopher
Plummer, a wonderful array of actors and actresses make this film a brilliant
watch.
Directed by Douglas McGrath. McGrath is not only a director
but a screen writer and an actor. He has been nominated for many awards
throughout his career. He directed the amazing 1996’s Emma. He directed the
wonderful, amazing 2006’s Infamous. He also wrote for the screen, Bullets over
Broadway (1994), Emma (1996), Nicholas Nickleby (2002) and Infamous (2006). He also
had an acting part in one of my all-time favorite films Todd Solondz (One of my
all-time favorite directors), 1998's film Happiness. Seeing all of Douglas’
movies I can see such a brilliant creator of visionary storytelling on screen.
He has away with directing, and Nicholas Nickleby is one of those defining
realities of important pieces of cinema.
Twilight Time did an amazing job picking this film. I have
always loved watching this movie. It shines and is a total entertainment
package for the viewer. It’s a very underrated film. I think it’s a film that
should be watched, expressed and most of all owned, and now you can own it on a lovely
Blu-ray that is worthy to praise.

Isolated Score Track. The music is created by a wonderful musician.
An English composer. A multi-talented guru of film score music. She has worked
on so many films. She shines in her mastery of craft and Twilight Time has honored
this music beauty with this special edition feature. The isolated score is
amazing. Rachel Portman creates beauty in sounds and composing amazing music
moments. Working on the classic 1989’s The Woman in Black. The masterpiece of
1993’s The Joy Luck Club. The amazing underrated 1996’s Marvin’s Room. The
award worthy 1996’s Emma, which she won an Academy Award for. A personal
favorite on mine is 1998’s, much underrated and underappreciated Beloved.
Nominated for an Academy Award for The Cider House Rules. Also, did the score
to one of the greatest films in cinema history, 1999’s Ratcatcher. I could go
on and on, but the point is the mastery of the music shines through the films that
Rachel Portman is a part of.
Audio Commentary with Director Douglas McGrath. A wonderful
listen. Very informative.

Overall:
A brilliant film. Amazing direction. Flawless performances.
Twilight Time’s solid product is one worthy to praise and in my viewpoint, one
that should be sought out and bought. This has a running of 3,000 Units, do
yourself a huge favor, and buy this product for it is an amazing film adaption of
a classic story. Twilight Time has done great justice to this modern classic. A
