My Review and Thoughts:
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5
Anyone who calls themselves entertainment buffs already knows the brilliance of the one starring in this film. Starring the fantastic stunning lady of
cinema Gena Rowlands. Rowlands is an actress that blesses the screen with her
presence in anything see does. Started in 1954 and still working today. She is
beautiful, graceful and has an expertise in front of the camera no matter how
small the part or how big the part is. She was fantastic in Gloria. The whole movie is blessed with her stardom.
Also starring a wonderful child actor John Adames. He only
ever acted in this movie. I think he did a fantastic job for being his first
time row and he captured the character perfectly. The chemistry between Gena
Rowlands and him is Flawless. Both playoff each other. Both create scenarios
that are believable, and both create memorable moments on the screen.
This is a wonderful crime drama, a thrilling film that stands out.
It’s about a young boy's family who is brutally killed by
mobsters. The young boys next door neighbor Gloria ends up becoming the child’s
guardian, but what the child possesses is a book that the gangsters really
want. So, the pair end up running. A cat and mouse game of mobsters against a
woman and a boy.
Keep an eye out for a character actor in this Sonny Landham.
In the film he is simply credited as Riverside Drive Man #8. Many will know him
from his iconic role in one of the coolest 80's film, Predator where he plays
Billy. What most people don't know is that he was a 1970's porn star. And you
get to see him in all his birthday suit glory in, A Saint, A Woman, A Devil.
But It's his ultimate persona in the many cult films that people will know him
from, such as 79's The Warriors, 84's Fleshburn, 86's Firewalker, 88's Action
Jackson.
Gloria also Stars another classic character actor. An actor
who I have always felt has never gotten the Limelight that he deserves or the
praise that he deserves. Tommy Noonan. He has acted in so many wonderful films specifically
of the cult status following. Many fans will know him from his countless films of the 80s and early 90s. Still acting strong today
Gloria was only his second film. Everyone will remember him in his classic role
of Francis Dollarhyde in the 1986 masterpiece Manhunter. I personally will
always remember him as Frankenstein's monster in the 1987 cult classic The
Monster Squad. He is a fantastic actor.
Directed by John Cassavetes. John was everything rolled into
one. He was a writer, a director and actor. He starred many wonderful films and
he directed many wonderful films including this one that I am reviewing. I will
always remember John for starring in the movie Rosemary's Baby and The
Dirty Dozen. He was a fantastic actor. A fantastic thespian of Cinema. A
wonderful director that could capture his actors and actresses in flawless
rolls including this one that I am reviewing, Gloria. He had a way with
capturing what he wanted to detail, and he brought it brilliantly to the
screen. Gloria is a prime example of His talent. He died way too young, 59 years
old. I feel that he would have went on and created other great movies whether
he was the actor, the writer or the director. It was great seeing Gloria on
this high definition 1080p transfer that Twilight Time brilliantly honored by
creating this new outlet for.
Audio/Video:
My Rating: 5 out of 5
Another Flawless example of how to treat audio and video on
an older film. The film was transferred to high definition 1080p flawlessly.
Another example of a fine product by Twilight Time. I see no flaw in the audio
and no flaw in the video. The movie has never looked any better.

Extras:
Isolated Music Track: The man behind the music
is a genius. Composer and conductor William Bill Conti. A master at music. A
master at memorable film scores. He is one of the best. All one must do is look
at his memorable career or catchy tunes, the Rocky soundtrack, need I say more.
Also, for the James Bond classic, For Your Eyes Only. The Karate Kid. He did
the soundtrack to one of my favorite underrated films of all time the amazing
1993 crime drama Blood In Blood Out (which needs a special edition, limited
edition Blu-ray). Conti is a master at creating tunes and music that just
remains with you all your life, I mean who doesn't know the Rocky soundtrack.
After watching and hearing his music in the films, you remember them, hum them
and just know them. This is a great special feature. Twilight Time honored this
master with this special feature.
