My Review and Thoughts:

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Rebekka, your main character is grieving. Her sister has killed herself. Rebekka in her angry reality decides to travel under a fake identity and go to the spot, a hotel in Western Norway to the place that holds the rage of her revenge. She has a mission. It is to seek out and confront the man she blames for her sister’s death. While there in her raging mind she unveils dark secrets. Rebekka seeks out Revenge. She wants to avenge her sister by any means. Will she succeed, and how far will she go to right a wrong, or at least how far is she willing to take her plight of ultimate Revenge.

Starring in your main lead is a stunningly beautiful and awesomely gifted performer. Siren Jørgensen is an amazing actress. She truly captures the part of a Revenge seeking sister. She allows herself to become the part. Her performance is a solid reality that truly stands out and really makes the picture, a worth while experience watching. She allows you to believe her part. She creates an inner emotional reality that transcends off the screen, and allows the viewer to feel that emotional reality.

Frode Winther gives a stunning performance. A wonderful emotionally controlled character. His acting is flawless. That is something very important about this movie, all those acting within showcase a brilliance that give the viewer a sense of reality unfolding on screen. Each performance lingers with you. Anders Baasmo Christiansen and Trond Espen Seim

give both stand out performances. I love how each of the characters for all the actors and actresses, hold a personality only to them. Each character has been defined by acting quality or by direction and storyline.

Directed by Kjersti Steinsbø. This is his Feature length directorial debut. Before this he created 2 Short Films, and after this he has directed for Television. Revenge is a solid directorial debut. The film is well crafted. You can sense a freshness about the direction and also a deep undertaking of a veteran director. Steinsbø captured what he wanted on screen and made the watcher experience a vivid undertaking. He brought forth a solid film. For a first time director, I feel he created a memorable film. There is solid chemistry between the actors. The direction of the performers, or at least what Steinsbø wanted on screen, is captured in an almost flawless degree. Not only was this directed by Steinsbø it was also written for the screen by Steinsbø.

Revenge wrapped in 2015 but has not gotten an American release until 2018 through the company Uncork’d Entertainment. This is a Foreign film from Norway and Canada. The story itself comes from Ingvar Ambjørnsen, a novelist out of Larvik Norway. In Norway he is considered a very important author. Many of his works have became motion pictures.

Revenge is tight story that has a haunting underlining that creeps slowly to the surface as you watch the film unfold. There is a quite darkness that scratches to the surface of the plot. The execution of the story, through the tight direction and amazing acting, makes the film memorable and one to stay with you long after it’s over. It makes you think. It makes you wonder how far you might go to seek revenge or to avenge.

Overall:

A solid film worthy of praise. A twisted dark tale of revenge and dark secrets. A wonderfully acted movie. A solid direction. Awesome storytelling. A nice emotional Revenge film, with a worthy storyline. The movie makes the viewer understand and believe the characters as they come to life on screen. A wonderful film that I feel should be highly recommended.
