My Review and Thoughts:
Canteen Outlaws/TLA Releasing really knows how to pick the films to showcase
and bring out on DVD for the mass audiences to experience thought provoking cinema that leaves a truly memorable experience. The Third One is
another one of those films that is emotionally charged and sexually beautiful in
the reality of solid performances and striking imagery of filmed perfection. I
really enjoyed this film. It’s a film that knew what it wanted to do and did
not shy away from it. It explores the idea of sexuality and partnership and
most of all a different reality of relationships.
This is a Foreign film from Argentina and I really have to
speak highly of it for its simplistic reality yet unique and vivid and
stunningly sexy, beautiful and most of all very intense in sexuality and the
emotional makeup of lust, love and experiencing new outlets on finding oneself.
I loved the reality of the frankness, the in your face approach
of love making and the concept of exploring the very recesses of the ménage a
trois.
A storyline done in such away the viewer can
sense the ultimate desire and chemistry between the players on screen. It showcased brilliant characters. I loved the
simple tone of the film. Three men, a place, a bed and the exploration of the
human body. This has no huge budget and that is why it is perfection at its
best in film making. Clocking in at only 70 minutes, it’s a film you did not
want to end, but yet, when it did, it showcased everything it needed and more to complete a film worthy to recommend and to talk about. It gave a love affair of interesting and truly entertaining
characters that left me satisfied and yet so beautiful I wanted more.
I think what stands out is the ultimate sexual tension and
emotional interactions with the characters. Most of all it’s the filming
itself. There are long shots of sequences that define the movie, as the
characters unfold. You as the viewer get to be a part of it. It’s not a
threesome as you watch, it’s more of a foursome, because you are stuck inside
the story. It’s like you’re the camera or most of all the bed or hands moving.
Beautiful shots of intimacy that flow with a natural setting that seems so real, it’s as if you’re filming.
Directed by relatively new comer to the world of cinema this
being his second feature film and I have to say Rodrigo Guerrero created
something that goes up there with the understanding of how to make a simple
flawless film that remains apart of you. He showcased the characters in deep
conversations and most of all believable and natural beauty in the art of
sexuality and the concept of an act, considered a taboo to most, the reality of a
threesome.
A couple seeks out a twist in the love making by chatting up
a college student named Fede who is played flawlessly by Emiliano Dionisi. Dionisi is
able to transcend the situation and give it a life of its own. Through his
acting and his character he makes the viewer feel the overall sexual tension
yet also feel the inner controlling desire and wanting of the love making situation.
Carlos Echevarria is as always perfect in his part. I loved him in the movie
Solo (2013) and he is what you call a passionate actor that is able to explore his
characters and give his characters the beating heart they deserve and this
performance is no different. I have to mention the newcomer to the acting role
Nicolas Armengol. This is his first feature film and, well, all I can say is,
it’s like he is a movie veteran. He, like the others, showcase how to perform a
character on screen. He gives bliss to the role. I can’t speak enough about the
chemistry between all three.
Rodrigo Guerrero wrote and directed a film that should be
seen and should be recommended by the masses of cinema lovers. It’s a film that
is fresh, new and most of all beautiful. It’s a film that will stand the test
of time. Guerrero created this subject in an intimate way. A personal way. It's not over done or vulgar, it's done with passion and beauty and an ultimate understanding of the subject matter and that is why it's a perfect film.
I highly recommend this passionate film. Thought provoking,
eye opening and a true in-depth approach to sexual exploration and the art of
love and desire.
