My Review and Thoughts:
Fascinating. A perfect smart sophisticated and truly
interesting imaginative film on the exploration of life and death and the idea
of the human soul through science and questioning. They say the eyes are the
gateway to the soul.
A film that is truly original and explorative.
Mike Cahill directed and wrote a solid film of wonderment
and a plot of debate and the concept of unanswered questions on the idea of
evolution and creation.
Starring a wonderful cast of performers. The amazing and
extraordinary and very handsome Michael Pitt. Always a wonderful performer in
bringing truly thought provoking characters to life and the character of Ian is
no different. Also starring the beautiful and very gifted Brit Marling. She and
Pitt along with Astrid Berges-Frisbey create perfect chemistry in their roles.
I felt like you were watching real life and the emotions and attitudes came
off as real human interactions and not simply filmed or scripted.
The whole movie flows in that reality based concept of real
life. There is a natural tone or set up through the direction and filming and
acting that just makes the viewer feel as if they are ultimately apart of the situation.
I loved the story of this film. The mind and the idea of
unanswered questions and seeking the exploration of what life is all about and
the idea of the after. This is what you call an intelligent science fiction
film that bleeds perfection in drama and the unknown. I was enthralled with
this film. I felt this movie as something to remember and grasp at its beauty
and ultimate truth.
Science sometimes cannot explain all questions. Sometimes
religion or faith cannot explain all questions. Sometimes one must experience
the unexplained. Sometimes a person’s beliefs are shaken apart. Sometimes truth
is staring at us in vivid detail. This is a well written story that lingers
long after it’s over. I loved the concept of the eye being explored through
science and faith.
Mike Cahill has truly an imaginative mind. He knows what he
wants to say and captures it through his vivid art form of directing and screen
writing. I think he is a smart director in showcasing logical films and
expresses the human side of wanting and learning and trying to find that answer
to the question.
I Origins is something memorable and magical and ultimately
fascinating in the concept of science and technology and also the idea and
belief of a soul.
